Akshardham temple located in the Gandhinagar, is one of the largest in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is a complex, which represents not only a significant religious building, but also plays an important role as a cultural, scientific and research center, where people come not only to pray, but also to visit exhibitions, seminars, learn something new.

The Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar was established quite recently, in 1992, and is a kind of precursor to the famous Delhi Akshardham, which was built by the same religious organization Bochasanwasi Akshar-Purushottam Swaminarayan of Sanstha.

The complex consists of the temple, a huge garden and research center. The main attraction of Akshardham is considered a two-meter Golden statue of the Hindu God Swaminarayan, the so-called Murti. It is located in the quaint pavilion temple, the construction of which went about six thousand tons of pink Sandstone. It has a height of 33 meters, a length of 73 meters and a width of 40 meters. And colonnade, erected around, covers an area of 534 meters.

Beautiful garden, which houses a temple, called Canadianand van and represents a sort of mixture of lush gardens and children's Park. It has rides, a lake and waterfall.

On-site research center is a large library, a training section and archive. Also, there are several exhibitions, acting on a permanent basis: Sahajanand, Sat-Chit-Anand, Nityananda, where you can see paintings, photographs, dioramas, films, dedicated to India.

Every year Akshardham temple complex is visited by about 2 million tourists.
