Ruins of the castle of Barenburg are located near the settlement Ander relating to the Swiss Canton of graubünden. Their image adorns the coat of arms of andere. To get to the ruins you can walk for 10 minutes on a specially marked track, originating behind the village.
When it was built the castle of Barenburg, historians don't know exactly, because so far not found any written confirmation of this event. The first owners of the castle are two brother-knight Conrad and bartolomeus. In the mid-fifteenth century as a result of a serious battle, the castle was destroyed with no right of refund.
Today the ruins of the castle became one of the most visited attractions of the region. To a large extent, this contributes to the degree of their preservation. Although the castle was destroyed more than 500 years ago, is still preserved parts of the protective wall around him, and in the Northern part of the ruins is possible to detect the outlines of the Foundation of a quadrangular tower size 8, 6 by 6 meters. Historians suggest that in the southern outskirts of the ruins, where now stands a pile of rubble that used to be located another tower. In good condition is also part of the twenty-meter wall on the West side of the former castle, immediately after which begins a steep cliff down. Amid the ruins is the likeness of the gravestone, but still nobody can say that it really is. True if the grave where buried noble knight, or artfully laid snag.
In the winter of 1977/78, in the Eastern part of the ruins of the collapsed eight-meter section of the wall of a former castle.
