Goa Lavas, which means "bat Cave", is located in the smallest region of Bali called Klungkung, which is located in the Eastern part of Bali, one and a half hour journey from Denpasar city. A more precise location of the cave – Dawan district, village of Pasanggrahan.
Goa Lavas – a natural cave rather complex shape, which goes deep into the mountains and stretches approximately 19 km from UNESCO and many other international organizations, has repeatedly appealed to the Indonesian government asking for permission to conduct research of the cave. However, the expedition went to explore the cave, unfortunately, never came back, so the government decided not to make attempts to explore the cave, and strictly follows it.
If you look at the cave from afar, it may seem that the cave live from behind the walls that seem to move. And only coming closer, you see that the walls are not moving, and this impression has created thousands of bats clinging to the cave entrance.
Inside the cave, people are not allowed although there are brave souls who dare to look back. At the slightest rustle of bats start to rush through the cave and produce the characteristic squeak. Day mouse asleep in the cave, and when the sun goes down countless bats with their unique sounds out of the cave in search of prey. Sight peculiar, sometimes creepy enough, the guides warn visitors about it.
There is an assumption that in addition to bats live in the cave and rats, and snakes. Among the local population there is a legend that in the depths of this cave lives a terrible beast.
