The Cubbon Park Photo: Cubbon Park

Beautiful Cubbon Park is located in the heart of the Indian city of Bangalore, and is considered his "light". The Park was laid out in 1864, but officially opened in 1870 on the initiative of major General Richard sledge, who at that time was not only British head of the city, but the chief engineer of Mysore state.

Initially, the Park was named "Meads Park" after sir John Meade, the acting Commissioner of the state of Mysore, but almost immediately was renamed "Cubbon Park", named after sir Mark Cubbon – man, the acting Commissioner for the longest time. But in 1927, the Park once again changed its name. This time he received the name Sri Chamarajendra Park" in honor of the 25th anniversary of the reign in Mysore Sri Krishnaradzha Vadera, Manager of Mysore in the nineteenth century. It was under him, and laid the Foundation of the Park. But still, the most known this place was named "Cubbon".

When creating the Park covers an area of about 0.4 square miles, now it has expanded to 1.2 sq. km. In total in Cubbon there are about 96 species of trees, shrubs and flowers, including local – Cassia tubular, ficus, polyalthia, breadfruit, etc.; of exotic plants in the Park are castanospermum, bamboo, Araucaria, sinus soft and others. This year round the Park is full of flowers and greenery, and the presence of another, and an open stage where often the orchestra, and a wonderful Lotus pond, makes it truly unique and a favorite place for visitors and residents of Bangalore.

The Park is not just a garden, it's a number of lush greenery, magnificent buildings, sculptures and monuments to famous people. There are many roads (but the Park is allowed to enter only small-sized passenger cars), and Hiking trails, especially in the morning, walking visitors.

Almost in the center of Cubbon is a gorgeous bright red building Attar of Kacheri. Today it houses the Supreme Court. Also the Park has many other agencies, such as city public library (Seshadri lier memorial Hall), State and Technological museums, the aquarium (considered to be the second largest in India), art gallery Venkatappa, state youth centre Javanica, Cheshire deer memorial Hall, children's amusement Park Jawahar Bal Bhawan etc.

Also in the Park are monuments to Queen Victoria (1906), king Edward VII (1919), major General sir Mark Cubbon, Sri Chamarajendra Videanu (1927) and sir K. Seshadri Liera (1913).
