Small Peristerona village is located a few dozen kilometers from Paphos in the eponymous district in the Western part of Cyprus, and just nine kilometres South of the town of Polis. This village has its own special atmosphere, which distinguishes it from a number of such settlements on the island. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery – the land around Peristerona is practically not cultivated, they are overgrown with wild flowers, lush shrubs, fruit and olive trees.

One of the most popular and visited places of the village is the Byzantine Museum of Arsinoe, which is located at the residence Arenosella Bishop. The Museum is open to the public every day except Sundays, and is famous for its unique collection of icons painted in the period from the XIII to the XIX century, which has more than 60 copies. In addition, there can be seen a variety of items used in the performance of ecclesiastical rites – apparel Orthodox priests, Church utensils made of wood and precious metals, as well as old books and manuscripts on religious themes. All these exhibits were made not only on the territory of the city and Islands – many of them were brought from other countries. In addition, in the Museum you can see unique jewelry made from precious metals.

But the real gem of the Museum's collection is considered the icon depicts Saint George. This masterpiece was written in the XIII century and brought to the Museum from the village of Pania.
