American Jim Thompson organized a Thailand silk manufacture, having fallen into decay after the Second world war. In 1959 he brought from the province of antique Thai houses of XVIII-XX centuries and installed them in random order on the territory of his estate in Bangkok. Today it houses a collection of Antiques and works of art, covering the time period of fourteen centuries.

Himself Thompson disappeared in 1967 in the Malaysian Cameron highlands. Among the versions of his disappearance was called the fall from the cliff, heart attack and the CIA intervention.
