In the North of Spain, near the center of the Pyrenees, there is a wonderful natural Park of Aigüestortes. The main part of the Park, with the status of national, covers an area of just over 14 thousand hectares with elevations from 1,000 to 3,000 meters above sea level. The Park was founded in 1955 and is the only national Park in Catalonia.
The Park is considered the true wealth of a country. Has been able to preserve in the wild all the wealth of flora and fauna typical of this region. Flora and fauna presents in the Park due to the location of the greater part at an altitude higher than 1000 meters above sea level. As we ascend on the steep slopes of the Pyrenees ridge meadows lying at their foot, are replaced by deciduous forests at low altitudes, moving in evergreen at medium altitudes and over Alpine pastures. Deciduous forests are represented mainly downy oak, ash and hazel. At the height of 1500-200 m grow mainly black pine, spruce, sun places it is found juniper. Here you can also see Rowan, blueberry and rhododendron. On the Alpine pastures at an altitude of more than 2300 meters flora is represented mainly by Alpine vegetation, such as gentians, buttercups. Living in the Park fauna is mainly goats, weasels, Martens, squirrels, deer and many species of birds.
