Royal monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes is a monument of architecture of the medieval Gothic style, located on a quite large territory and largely preserved its original magnificent appearance.

The monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes was founded in 1326 last, fourth wife of the king of Catalonia and Aragon Jaume II Elisenda de Moncada. The opening of the monastery took place on may 3, 1327, during the solemn mass. The monastery was occupied by the nuns of the order of St. Clare, who only in 1983 he moved to the neighboring monastery.

Queen Elisenda shown great interest in this monastery, which was under her protection and benefit of the Royal family. In one of the Kelly monastery lived the niece Elisenda, the future Prelate. Nearby is the chapel of San Miguel, which is a real work of art.
