Historical Museum in the town of birštonas was founded in 1967. The main part of the Museum was collected by ethnographers school in the town. The Museum today has collected about 8,000 exhibits. The main exhibition includes approximately 500 exhibits, they are constantly updated. In the Museum you can see a variety of ethnographic, household, archaeological artifacts, photographs, documents, and things directly associated with the development of birštonas.

Collectible exposition in Birstonas the Museum can be divided into three parts. One of them allows visitors to trace the history of the city from ancient times until the middle. 19th century, how were the resort. Of special value are the tube through which water was flowing in the sanatorium and wooden tub.

The second part is devoted to the development of the resort from the middle. 19th century until 1939 (World war II). In this exhibition there are photos of floods in Birstonas, which was in 1958.

Third exposition tells about the development of the resort in the postwar period since 1966, the construction of new recreational areas, resorts, hospitals which operate to date.

The most valuable exhibits in the Museum are research papers and belongings of the doctor Jurgis Vincunas, he was involved in the mud in Birstonas in Lithuania and from 1925 poster artist Mstislav Dobuzhinsky which is advertised water “Birute”.

In our days the Museum is actively engaged in research work, which aims to collect as much information as possible about famous people who lived and live in the Spa town of Birstonas.
