The Northern coast of the Gulf of Gokova stretches for a distance of about 44 miles from the resort of Bodrum in the West to the town of Gecov in the East. It is in this picturesque Bay and is located famous for its hot springs Black Island also known as "Kara Ada. This long and high island removed from Bodrum at a distance of two miles and stretches Southeast along the coast. Although the island is called "Kara" (black), it is densely covered with vegetation, and looks very green. The slopes of the mountain, the height of which in some places reaches 400 meters, covers beautiful and fragrant pine forest.
Numerous excursion boats stop at the caves with therapeutic hot springs, of which there are many on the island. There is a belief that the healing mud from this area owes its long youth and beauty of the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. The end Bay is on the South-East of the Black Isle, opposite the small island of Associa. It is suitable for Parking even better than the last. On the Eastern side of the Bay the wind is noticeably weaker, so that is where best to anchor.
Behind Black island, at a distance of 45 minutes from Bodrum, is another Bay. In this Bay the wind blows constantly, which is very refreshing in hot summers. Here is an excellent place for diving for both experienced for begineers. Rock formations begin five meters down and down to twenty meters. Starfish, Moray, Orthos, octopus and many other beautiful small fish will meet on your way. Here you can even meet the fragments of ancient amphorae.
On Black island, you can stay for a few days – there's a small hotel and restaurant.
