The Church of the Nativity of the virgin Mary in the town of Barysau was built on the initiative of the Borisov city warden Adam Kazanovich in 1642. The Church was wooden and burned down in a devastating fire in 1806. The construction of a new brick Church began immediately, in the year of the fire, but stretched it for the next 17 years. Only in 1823 the Church was consecrated.

In 1937 Borisov Church of the Nativity of the virgin Mary suddenly appeared in the center of this spy scandal. The Abbot of Adolf Klewicki was accused of espionage and imprisoned, but followed him into the dungeons of the NKVD on the same ridiculous charges hit all the Ministers of the Catholic Church, including an elderly lady. In 1945 decided in the temple to arrange a cinema. High tower with a cross was demolished, plastered valuable frescoes and made entertainment for urban audiences. The time was after the war, everyone wanted fun and pleasure.

In 1965, the city built the theater. Nobody wanted the former Church was given to the medical school, so that future nurses used it as a gym. But the College soon after the former Church was not needed, since educational institutions have built new comfortable spacious building with a private gym.

The former temple was abandoned and began to deteriorate. Wanted to make it a showroom, but too late – too much has been required of the cost of its restoration.

And then, on 24 October 1988, the Church finally decided to transfer to the Catholics. Small Borisov community helped West Catholic, and soon in Borisov ascended proud four-tiered white bell tower with radiant Catholic cross. In 1990 the Church was again consecrated by Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, whose name is inseparably connected with the revival of the Catholic traditions of Belarus and Russia.
