Queensland Museum – the main state Museum, whose collection is housed in 4 campuses: in South Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Townsville.

The Museum was founded on 20 January 1862, the Queensland philosophical society headed by Charles Coccinum. Throughout its history the Museum has repeatedly moved his exposure in different years it was housed in the Old windmill (from 1862 to 1869, at the houses of Parliament (until 1873), the main post office (until 1879).

In 1879, the state government has built for the Museum building on William street, where the Museum and moved to the next 20 years. In 1899 Queensland Museum moved again – this time in the Exhibition Hall (today it is called the Old Museum) in the suburbs of Brisbane in Bowen hills, where he was located for 87 years. In 1986, the Museum moved to Queensland cultural centre on South Bank and was located next door to the Art gallery of Queensland.

Today in the Queensland Museum has several thematic fields:

The Museum is located on the South shore near the Park's southern coast in the cultural heart of Brisbane. It is the largest and oldest campus where you can learn about the history of Queensland, its past, present and future. Popular exposition Playground "ENERGEX", help center and exotic "Dandiiri Maiwar" - a place where you can learn about the lives of the aboriginal tribes, to see the objects of their culture, traditions and beliefs.

The railway Museum is more than 15 expositions telling about what a huge impact the construction of the railway on the development and life of Queensland. In 2011, the Museum has set a new world record by constructing the longest game of the railroad, which was included in the Guinness Book of Records.

The Museum Cobb+Co" is located in the town of Toowoomba. It was built in 1987, when the Queensland Museum needed more space to accommodate models of horse-drawn carriages. Today in the collections of the Museum you can see a huge variety of vehicles ranging from horse drawn carriages, and carts and ending the so-called "Landau" - convertible. The Museum regularly holds various master classes: manual forging, silver case, manufacturing leather goods, etc.

Tropical Queensland Museum: the main attraction – the exposition of the English warship "Pandora" which sank near Cape York, in 1791. Hundreds of amazing artifacts raised from the wreck site and available for visitors. In other halls of the Museum you can get acquainted with the inhabitants of tropical rain forests, corals and marine life.
