Holy Trinity Cathedral is the only Orthodox Church in Buenos Aires. By the end of the 19th century lived in the city a large number of Orthodox Arabs, Romanians, Greeks and Slavs, who appealed to the Russian Emperor Alexander the Third with a request to build a Church. After a few years the parishioners of the Church on the national composition of the steel is exclusively Russians, as the Arabs and the Greeks built their parishes.
The original temple took two rooms in a small house in the city center. Was later built a separate Orthodox Church on draft Argentine architect Alejandro Christophersen. The Cathedral was decorated in the style of Russian churches of the 17th century.
The two-story building: the first floor has a school and a Church. Painted ceilings, columns, domes, arches and the whole ornament was made by an artist from Italy - Matteo Casella. The temple has 2 side chapel — Mary Magdalene and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In the Church is in the icon-painting: "the last supper", "Holy Trinity", the "Transfiguration," "Universal saints" and others. A distinctive feature of the temple is the porcelain iconostasis and Holy relics donated by the Athonite elders.
In the early 20th century when churches were open shop, free reading room, Amateur choir, a shelter for the needy, cultural and educational circle. Currently at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity school, Holy masses are celebrated on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The entrance to the temple is free for both Orthodox and both locals and tourists.
