The Coptic Church of Abu Serga Church of St. Sergius built on the site where according to the legend stayed the virgin Mary with the infant. In place of the grotto, which hid the fugitives, and was built the Church of Abu Serga.

The Foundation of the Church dated back to V century. The modern view of the Church purchased by the XII century.

The outside is nondescript rectangular building without a steeple. The architecture of this Basilica, with one Central nave, but over the side aisles are galleries. Over the chapel of the grotto of the Holy Family on the altar rises a white dome.

Descending the stone steps under the altar before you could get to the Holy grotto. However now it's impossible. Although the 2000 anniversary of Christ's Nativity, the grotto was restored, but to go down it can only priests.
