Cathedral of St. Anne Photo: Cathedral of St. Anne

Cathedral of St. Anne Catholic Cathedral of Debrecen, erected by order of Transdanubia, in 1715, as a symbol of the return of Catholicism in the city. This is the main Cathedral of the diocese of Debrecen — nyíregyháza. This is one of the youngest dioceses of Hungary was formed on 31 may 1993. Its territory was formed from the former territories of the Archdiocese of Eger and the diocese of Szeged-Csanad. The diocese is located in the East of the country where historically the majority of the population was Protestant, which explains the fact that the percentage of Catholics in the diocese of Debrecen-nyíregyháza is the lowest in Hungary — less than a quarter of the total population.

Unlike the strict interior of the Calvinist Church, in the Church of St. Anne, you can see the luxurious interior of the Rococo. Many of the images of saints in the sanctuary made by famous Hungarian artists of the XVIII century
