The Dubai fountain – world's largest dancing fountain was developed by a California firm WET Design, who previously created the famous Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas. The construction of the Dubai fountain began in the summer of 2008, and its official launch, timed to the opening ceremony of the shopping Mall "the Dubai Mall", was held on may 8, 2009.
The Dubai fountain, which cost the city budget Dubai to 218 million dollars, superior to its American counterpart in almost all respects. Located on 30 acres of artificial lake at the foot of Burj Khalifa, the fountain is a truly awesome sight, especially during the evening show, when illuminated water jets soar into the night sky with music from classical and rhythms of the East to a modern, world renowned hits. The fountain can levitate about 80 tons of water, and the rays of illumination are visible even from a distance of 32 kilometers. But, of course, watching the show is best near. Thanks 25 colour and several thousands of point lights, and water cannons of different capacity, lifting jets of water at an incredible height from 128 to 152 meters, it can be seen from any point of the lake, and one of the best for watching the show places are considered to be the terrace of the Dubai Mall and the bridge that connects the Mall to another shopping Mall Souk al Bahar.
The show is completely free, it begins daily at 18.00 and goes every half hour until 23.00 to 23.30 weekdays and on weekends (Thursday, Friday, Saturday).
