Near the train station there is a small temple, which can accommodate up to 300 people. The five-domed Church with a high tower that houses the bell was consecrated by the name of St. Olga. For more than a hundred years, the Church is used by the Orthodox Church in the Czech Republic. It was built for the needs of Russian tourists, who conducted in františkovy lázně from several months to half a year, adjusting their health. The cornerstone of the future of the sacred building was laid in 1881. The construction of the temple lasted 8 years. Only in 1889 was held the first service.
The architect of the Church of St. Olga was chosen as the local mayor and at the same time gifted specialist Gustav Widerman. Before the erection of this temple he has built an Orthodox Church in Karlovy vary and some other buildings of the region. Most educated people, who also traveled a lot, Widerman developed their project, building on the work of the architect A. Ober. Perhaps that is why the Church of St. Olga recalls the temple, built in the suburbs on the estate Rukavishnikova, is the brainchild of Auber.
When the Nazis invaded Frantiskovy Lazne, they took the building of the Church of St. Olga for the storage of ammunition. It surprised city officials, who appealed to Metropolitan Seraphim. Only his intervention helped to protect the Church from inappropriate use. But unfortunately, even such high patronage of the Church hierarchs did not help to save the unique murals on the walls. Therefore, after the war, during the reconstruction of the temple all the interior murals were created anew.
The Church of St. Olga is open daily.
