Dudhsagar waterfall is located on the reserve bhagwan Mahavir, which is located in the state of Goa approximately 60 kilometres from the administrative centre of North Goa – Panjim. Dudhsagar is among the hundred highest waterfalls in the world, and is one of the most important sights of Goa. It is a multilevel system with a total length of about 603 meters and a height of 310 meters.
This miracle of nature has been called Dudhsagar, which literally translates as "milk ocean" because of the color of water, which seems to be milk-white. According to the legend, in the jungle in place of the waterfall there was a Palace in which lived a Princess. She loved to swim in the lake nearby, and after bathing, drinking the sweet milk from a Golden jug. Once floating, the Princess saw through the trees watching her man, and wanting to hide her body from prying eyes, she poured the milk into the water beside him. To this day milky-white spray of the waterfall is called Dudhsagar, remind people about the modesty of the Princess.
To reach the falls, you can use train, bus or taxi, but this vehicle can only drive up to the reserve. A further way through creeks and dense thickets will have to overcome or an SUV or on foot. But no difficulties can stop those wishing to enjoy the beauty of this fabulous waterfall.
The best time to visit dudhsagar waterfall is the winter months. Then heat and monsoon rains, which fall between June and September, it will not hurt to experience all the charm of this place.
