The Church Of St. Francis of Assisi, located in the Old part of the famous resort of Goa state of India, about ten kilometers from the capital city Panaji is a beautiful building in its architecture combines traditional, both Hindu and Christian elements.

The history of the Church. Francis of Assisi began as a small chapel, the construction of which, however, lasted four years, from 1517 and 1521. As expected, the building immediately after construction was consecrated, but soon it had to carry. In the form in which the Church can be seen today, it was built in 1661 – the old building was only "lobby". In addition, when the new Church was also created educational center, which, unfortunately, was closed by Portuguese authorities about 1835.

The Church Of St. Francis of Assisi is a huge building with many rooms and labyrinthine corridors. Its walls and ceilings decorated with paintings and stucco – skillfully painted scenes from the Bible, as well as flower ornaments, typical of Hindu temples. The main hall of the Church is richly decorated with decorative elements – gold-plated stucco, painting, columns and carved panels. Also there you can see two large statues of Jesus Christ and St. Francis of Assisi.

In 1964, the Indian government decided to transform the Church. Francis of Assisi in the Museum, where on display visitors exhibited beautiful paintings, ancient relics and religious attributes.
