The monastery of coarse sand in Nova Rise Photo: the Abbey of prémontrés in Nova Rise

A small village Nova Rise in Moravia is known primarily for his monastery. The town is small, very cozy and not crowded, but the name sounds pretty pretentious. Nova Rise translated from Czech as "New Empire".

The monastery was originally female: it was founded by nuns from the order of premonstrant in 1211. They peacefully governed the monastery for several centuries, while in the Czech Republic has not fallen on hard times, marked by the Hussite wars. In 1424-1425, the monastery robbed several times, and then almost destroyed. Some nuns were able to flee, and the remaining were forced to commit suicide to avoid falling into enemy hands. Those who were able to escape after a while came back, to restore the monastery. Finally, there came a time when the monastery almost empty. The nuns died, and the new nuns live in the monastery did not want. Last in the convent sister remonstrance died in 1641. To Holy abode was not empty, she was sent a few monks of the same order. So the monastery became masculine.

This situation persists to this day. During the Second world war, many monks came to concentration camps, where not everybody returned. In the middle of the XX century the monastery was closed. He was returned to the monks in 1991. Now there are 5 priests to independently run the whole farm and receive guests-the laity. People come here not only for pilgrims who are looking for Council of the Holy fathers, but also many tourists wishing to explore the ancient monastery, and also to be closer to God.
