One of the most beautiful protected areas of Kaliningrad zoo is considered, combined with the arboretum, located in the city center. The animal Park was founded by German entrepreneur Herman Class in 1896. In our days the Kaliningrad zoo is the oldest and largest zoos in modern Russia.

In the eighties of the nineteenth century German Class, curator and craft exhibition in königsberg, with the support of the head of the Zoological Albertina University - Maximilians brown, buys wooden pavilions exhibition society and creates the Tiergarten ("garden of beasts"). In our days the Kaliningrad zoo occupies an area of over 16 hectares, which is home to more than 3,500 animals and grow 150 species of rare plants. The whole Park is well maintained and feature beautiful landscapes. The Park entrance is decorated with a sculptural composition of animals, and picturesque alleys are gazebos and pre-war sculpture Konigsberg zoo.

The most valuable architectural landmark of the zoo - the Central fountain of the pre-war buildings, streams which rise on vosemnadtsatiletnyuyu height. The most valuable exhibit of the Park - relict tree Ginkgo.

For younger visitors there are rides, playgrounds, cafes and a mini-zoo. For lovers of exotic open an aquarium and a terrarium with 60 species of fish and reptiles.
