The bridge on the river Kwai has become a legend after not once appeared in feature films and literature. One of the most famous films is the David Lynch film “the Bridge on the river Kwai”, filmed in 1957 and won 7 Oscars. But the movie is just fiction with a little bit of truth. How things really are?

Railway bridge over the river Kwai is located in Thailand, between the village of Ban Pong in Thailand and Thanbyuzayat in Burma. Its construction took place during the Second world war. Construction managed by Japan with the purpose of organizing shipments to India and back by rail. The work was the prisoners of war and local Asians who worked in inhuman conditions during the year. Because of the complexities of work, many people have left their lives there. It is believed that each sleeper on the railway bridge is a witness to one, or even two deaths.

In 1944, the bridge was subjected to bombing by the allied forces, the three sections were destroyed. At the moment they are restored, and the original parts of the military Museum.

Now the Bridge on the river Kwai is a tourist attraction. In addition to the historical importance of the place attracts travellers a luxurious tropical nature that surrounds it.

Every year on November 28 on a Bridge over the river Kwai is a Grand festival in the memory of the bombing and died in 1944. It includes large-scale laser and music shows.
