Kavarna is a Bulgarian town on the black sea coast with a rich history. Like other cities of Bulgaria, it is not spared the fate of being conquered by the Ottoman invaders, who settled here in the 15th century. The Turks built in the city with numerous public buildings, one of which is the Turkish bath (Hammam). These baths continue the tradition of the ancient Roman baths: this spacious room, which was heated with a large boiler, steam was supplied to the bath through the holes in the wall. The social importance of the Hammam is difficult to overestimate, he was a kind of center of city life. Here to exchange news, have made important decisions, and often partied and had fun.
Today Kavarna Turkish baths, built in the 15th century, not used for its intended purpose. It is a massive rectangular stone building with a dome, was completely renovated. Restored heating and plumbing systems. The Turkish baths building is a monument of history and architecture.
In our days in the Turkish baths opened Maritime Museum. Constantly working exhibition that tells the history of shipping in the area, called "the Dobruja and the sea". The exhibition presents archaeological finds – ancient stone anchors, a collection of ancient gold coins, amphorae and other ceramics, ancient Thracian treasure of gold and other priceless artifacts recovered from the seabed. The Museum presents everyday objects and the culture of the main groups of the local population – Dobrodeyev, Gagauz and Kotlina.
Next to the building Turkish baths is another interesting Museum of Kavarna – historical.
