Orthodox Church of Mother of God "perishing" is located in the city of Kharkov, in the square, at the intersection of Lenin Avenue and street Culture, near the monument to soldiers-internationalists, who died in Afghanistan. She was named in the name of the Mother of God "perishing". This image is venerated in Russia, in front of him mother's pray for their dead children.

The temple was built in 2006 in memory of soldiers-participants who died in local wars. The initiator of the erection of this Church was the Kharkiv regional Union of veterans of Afghanistan. In October 2007 took place the laying of the capsule with the Holy relics and consecrated the place allotted for the construction of the temple.

First, in this place, "Afghan square, were to build a small chapel in memory of a serviceman, Eugenia, who refused to renounce the Christian faith in Chechnya, for which he was killed. But the building was expanded, and instead of the planned chapels built a full-fledged Church, which could accommodate 250 worshippers. The building has a height of 26 meters. His painting will hold up for several years, when he will give a full contraction.

In August 2008, the day when Kharkov was liberated from Nazi invaders, the newly built Church was consecrated in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "perishing", and in memory of the heroism of the soldier Evgeny Rodionov and with him dead warriors.

The temple was built with the blessing of Metropolitan of Kharkiv and Metropolitan Nikodim. The Church was consecrated in the vicar of Kharkov diocese his Eminence Onufry and Izum Archbishop, assisted by the urban clergy.
