Natural complex reserve "of the Oak forest near the village of Walikota" created with government support and is located in Leningrad region, specifically in the Kingisepp district, near the small village of Walikota. Nature reserve is a carefully protected natural territorial area under special control. "The groves near the village of Walikota" were formed in mid-1976.
The purpose of the creation of the natural complex "of the Oak forest near the village of Walikota" was the timely preservation of the rich forests of such trees as elms, oaks, and a global set of nemoral species of plants and incredible beauty of parklands. Moreover, of special value are the sources of the river Welikada. Job nature reserve regulates state supervision provided in the person of the Government of the Leningrad region, namely, the Committee on environmental protection and natural resources of the Leningrad region.
The area of the complex reserve extends over Ordovician plateau, which for many years consisted of limestone. It should be noted that the plateau consists of several forest areas that are in various quantitative abundance of rich oak, wood Apple, elm, common honeysuckle, viburnum and many other herbs and shrubs, typical of the forest zone. Particularly interesting is the fact that some oak trees in the reserve reaches about a hundred years or even more, and the height of these representatives comes to a point 25 feet, and the diameter of the barrel is more than half.
In the South-East direction that is closer to the edge of the village of Walikota, is a large historic Park, the greatest part of the plantation which are a picturesque group, as well as numerous single planting common in these parts of the tree species. One of the features of local areas is the predominance of broad-leaved plants, as well as so-called exotic species. This Park is a huge sinkhole, from the bowels which has a huge number of natural keys, which give rise to the local river Welikada.
As for fauna in the region, it becomes clear that it is home to animal species adapted to live in deciduous forests. Forest lanes is home to a huge number of common forest birds, but also here you can see the nest of the turtledove ordinary, tawny owl, green woodpecker, guicci marsh, nuthatch and many other birds. To forest inhabitants nature reserve is part of a hare, the population of the rodent and some species of bats. Especially rare to find a deer, to see which one may be lucky enough not to everyone.
As to the question of the protection of protected objects, protected objects are the following representatives of flora and fauna: single old-growth trees, oak, elm forest, numerous parklands, a large sinkhole with multiple outputs springs, grey owl, green woodpecker, turtle dove, common and ROE deer.
For the natural reserve "the Groves near the village of Walikota" has a mode of protection, completely governing the conduct of human economic activity.
