Gymnasium, reminiscent of a sand castle color, decorated with a sloping roof tiles, is not a child's imagination, this is a real building in the centre of Kladno. It was built at the beginning of the last century for two years on the project of Czech architect Alois Drake.

The building in art Nouveau style was originally built for the children, therefore, the city government made sure that the interiors were bright, spacious and encouraged kids to learn something new. Nowadays the school is a modern educational institution with computer and language classes, chemical and physical laboratories, sports and gym. And rooms for physical education classes are divided into male and female.

In the school study not only local children but also for newcomers who want to learn Czech language and to continue their education in this country.

The Park adjacent to the gymnasium, you can see the monument to the woman, holding hands not even the child, and his shadow. The sculptor has solved the problem of the image of the missing child as follows: did the concave image of the boy on the skirt of the woman. This monument is dedicated to the sad events in the life of the city. It involves the assassination of R. Heydrich in 1942. As you know, the guys who wounded the Deputy protector of Bohemia and Moravia, managed to escape. Then, on the orders of Hitler, the Nazis began to carry out punitive operations in nearby villages, shooting those residents who sheltered the guerrillas. Under the roundup came and the village of Lidice. The Nazis had destroyed all the men, women and children moved in Kladno, where he locked in the gym of the gymnasium. Then the women sent to concentration camps, and children – in a textile factory.

Terrible times are behind us, and now near the gymnasium constantly hear the merry laughter of children.
