Also called Susaan Hoi an, the beach fossil mollusks in Krabi is one of three rare places on our planet that can no longer be found. Only in Japan and USA are more modest, but equally interesting and ancient extruded accumulation of many mollusk shells.
Age unique finds Susan hoy has more than 40 million years. According to research, once the beach area was a freshwater swamp, which has dried up and turned into dry land about 200 000 years ago. Gradually there was formed a layer of limestone with a thickness of 40 cm as a result of the movement of tectonic plates it was split on separate plates. These huge layers of compressed fossils from a distance it looks like a cement block.
On the beach of fossil mollusks are three main points where you can touch the ancient history of our planet. The first is located to the East of the tourist centre, this rocky area of the coast is clearly visible during low tide. The basis of the fossil layer is snails the size of 1-2 cm. the Second point is at the visitor center. Here you will see a thick layer of limestone in the 1-2m. the Third point can be visited only during low tide, compacted mineral layer here consists of gastropods and bivalves in size from 1 to 5 cm.
The findings, similar to the detection of beach fossil mollusks, are incredibly valuable not only for studying the history and development of the Earth, but also for global prediction of its future.
