Building located on the street Kunga, 24 in Liepaja, according to experts, is a unique architectural monument not only Latvia, but also in all Baltic countries. This building is the house of Peter I. as a result of architecturally-art inventory of the building, made at the request of the present owner, the house was built in the first half of the seventeenth century. Since that time he has kept a roof made of tiles, and the original Gables.
For the first time in history, the mention of this building appeared in 1697, when Peter the great visited Liepaja. The great Emperor lived here a week. After that, the house is called the House of Peter.
In April 1697, the Great Embassy of Peter the great arrived in Liepaja. The Duchy of Courland all travel expenses from Jelgava kindly took over. In the years 1952-1992 in the House Petra is located a number of apartments and exposure of the Liepaja Museum, which was dedicated to the Great Embassy. The current owner of the house looked skeptically at the historical building. He thought he would settle here, but decided that the construction of this level should serve society.
