The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity for many years has always been the most luxurious and monumental monument in Liepaja. The construction of the temple began in 1742. The first pile was driven on may 29, and July 19, laid down the basic stone. The architect was J. K. Dorn, assistant – M. Frohlich. Consecrated the Church on 5 December 1758. Only in 1866, the construction was finished.

For many years at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity existed a functioning parish. The parish's activities did not stop, in spite of many wars, the change of epochs and political regimes.

Holy Trinity Cathedral is a unique building. It has retained its original form without any alterations or changes in the interiors. Just before the great Patriotic war during the existence of the German congregation here has been renovated. But the most valuable is that of the famous organ of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity has been preserved as it was created. And has built his outstanding Builder of organs H. A. Koncius. Famous this body it is up to 1912 was the largest in the world. It is characterized fully mechanical gaming tractor (electronic and pneumatic control is not applied). The Church with an amazing body is proud of its organists. This is Rudolf Perle, who served in the Church most of my life and gathered luxury music library. They saved the Church from destruction.

German parish existed until 1939. Then came the Latvian parish. The Cathedral became the property of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church. At first service was held by the priest Ernst Bunce, who in time of war did it in Latvian and German languages. After the great Patriotic war worked here evangelists Arnold Karlis and the Liquidators Conrads, priest Karlis, Daugulis. Long amount of time supervised by the parish priest Theodore Calcs. The worship was conducted by the priests Waldemar Gutmanis, the creativity krieviņš, Sigurd Sprogis, Zigurd Augstkalns.

Currently the parish Church of Holy Trinity is very cohesive. In the parish are attended by a large number of young people. Out of 300 members, about half regularly attend worship services. The organ is played by Waldemar Christian baris and the League of Augusta. In the Church was created by the youth liturgical choir under the pupils of the music school Maya Porini. They perform numerous concerts. The Cathedral is collaborating with the Department of culture and city Council. In the future parishioners plan to make a concert career at a higher level.

Now the parish has a special status – the Cathedral parish. For worship you can come daily in 18 hours. A festive service – especially solemn. They are organised by the Bishop of Liepaja Pavel Brewers.

In the basement and under the floor of the Church was destroyed by a fungus. Repaired 1 fur body. Made the preservation of the tower from further damage. In 2008 the interior of the Cathedral with a volume of 13,000 cubic meters were treated with methyl bromide to destroy the beetle-grinder. Specialists from Germany gave a guarantee that at least 30 years old bugs will appear. I want to believe that this great monument will transform and preserve for future generations.
