National Museum of archaeology, anthropology and history of Peru is the oldest state Museum in the country. Its importance lies in the vast and diverse cultural heritage, hosted in its halls and archive. The Museum was founded in 1822 josé Bernardo de Tagle and Portocarrero, Jose Bernardo de Monteagudo and Mariano Eduardo de Rivero and Ustariz, who later became the first Director of the Museum. Thanks to the work of these three people a project of the National Museum of Peru was embodied in 1826. The Museum building is located in the district of Pueblo Libre in Lima, in the XVIII century mansion in which he lived, Simon Bolivar and Generalissimo don Jose de San Martin.

Among the most important treasures of the national Museum houses the image of the crossed arms from the temple of Kotosh - archaeological site Dating back to the period 2300-1200 BC, was found near the city of Huanuco.
