The Czartoryski Palace is a building in Baroque style, built in the second half of the seventeenth century by tylman of Gameren. The Palace is located in the heart of Lublin. It's a medium size building with a brick façade, a gallery and a portico over the entrance.
The first owner of the Palace was Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski, later the building passed to Elżbieta Sieniawski. New mistress in 1725 invited architect Francis Mayer from Moravia for the reconstruction of the Palace, which lasted about three years. In 1731, after the death of his wife, Maria Sofia Sieniawski married a Russian Governor Alexander August Czartoryski. So, the Palace passed into the possession of the genus Czartoryski. The family soon moved from Lublin, leaving the Palace the following owners: Adam Kazimierz and Isabella Fleming Czartoryski.
In 1812 the building was sold to Martin Kobylinsky – notary Lublin. In subsequent years, the Palace was leased to the tobacco plant. In the nineteenth century, despite the fact that the Palace housed the industrial enterprise, the building still looked impressive mansion. Since 1860 the Palace was constantly sold, the owners changed almost every year. Of course, the situation was not conducive to the maintenance of the Palace in good condition.
During the Second world war, the Czartoryski Palace was badly damaged. In 1939 the building was hit by a bomb, and in 1944 he was set on fire by the retreating Germans. Fortunately, the fire did not affect the internal layout. After a year damaged walls were demolished, began large-scale reconstruction. Invited architect Czeslaw Doria-Dermalogic restored the original interior of the Palace, as well as the appearance of the building.
In 1973, the Palace became the residence of the Scientific society of Lublin.
