Old Park luís de camões with grottoes type Suzhou gardens were excellently preserved and is a popular attraction in Macau. The name of the Park, unusual for China, appeared in honor of the famous Portuguese poet, who visited more than once this city. In the grotto there is a sculptural monument to Luis de camões.
First, this Park belonged to a wealthy Portuguese merchant, a great lover of birds, which were placed in the Park of the original building, similar to a bird's nest. Later, in the 13th century, the Park became a property of certain British companies, and to belong to the city authorities Macau it was only 100 years later.
Obtained state Park status allowed us to associate a name with the poet, lived here in a long time. A favourite place of the poet were grottoes. It is not excluded that here and painted one of his poems "the Soul of Portugal". And in the early nineteenth century, three centuries later, the favorite poet of the mainsail set, which is still there, bust.
Local people have long used the Park for chess battles, leisurely strolls and other favorite activities, which have centuries-old trees, and benches around the fountains, and amazing Chinese pavilions. Also here traditionally, people come to emancipate the special decorative birds.
In the middle of the Park there is a sculpture "Embrace", a symbolic name which reflects the unity of Chinese and Portuguese cultures.
A great variety of exotic plants, amazing perspective of the city, a wonderful sculptural compositions – all this makes the Park luís de camões unique. The tourists visiting this magnificent place, will surely be charmed by the relative tranquillity.
