The Church of Pentecost – one of the iconic sights of the city of Magadan. Magadan Orthodox community was registered in 1989, initially, all services were conducted in a specially adapted for this house (now the territory of the Pokrovsky monastery, in the village of Sun).

The main initiator of the construction of the temple was made first Bishop of Magadan (and temporarily Kamchatka and Sakhalin) Arkady. The solemn consecration of the temple in honor of the Descent of the Holy spirit on the Apostles took place in February 1992 the Last of the buildings were built in 1990-1992 single-Domed Church is a rectangular quadrangle with tiered bell tower, located under a small tent. Soon the Church was decorated with icons that were donated to his Holiness Patriarch Alexy II. In September 1993 the Patriarch personally visited the temple. In November 1997, in the Church brought the Pochaev icon of the Mother of God, before the miraculous way every Sunday, the townspeople gather at the akathist.

In the Church there is a Shrine with the relics of great saints, as well as icons with the particles of the relics of St. innocent of Moscow, St. Seraphim of Sarov, Hieromartyr Haralambos, enlightener of Alaska, St. Matrona of Moscow apostles Peter and Paul.

In 1996 near the Church was built, St. John the Baptist baptismal Church. Until 2011, the Church of the Descent of the Holy spirit wore to the status of Cathedral. In September 2011, at the consecration of the new Holy Trinity Cathedral in Magadan, Duhososhestvenskaya Church has lost the status of a Cathedral.
