A monument to Russian teacher Photo: a Monument to Russian teacher

A monument to Russian teacher, located in the city of Makhachkala on the Caspian coast, is the first monument in the world, which was dedicated to Russian teacher.

The monument is a 10-foot bronze sculpture depicting a modest young woman on a pedestal, in which the right hand holds a globe, and in his left an open book. At the opening of this monument Dagestani President M. Aliyev said that "it symbolizes the role of the Russian intelligentsia in the educational development of the people of Dagestan".

About Russian teachers written books, poems dedicated to them. Still not known the exact number of Russian intellectuals who have moved in the last century in the Republic of Dagestan. For example, in 1925 on the territory of Dagestan taught for about 30 teachers. At the time of a common language for all peoples in the Republic was not, so people in every village lived by themselves and spoke only in a language they understand. But when the great Otechestvennoi war, the situation is much more complicated. Many teachers were sent to the front. In the postwar period in the Dagestan school sent 450 of Russian teachers. Later the number of young professionals has increased rapidly (up to 1500 thousand people per year).

Most of the young girls-teachers had no idea where they are sent to work. The visiting teachers was very hard to get used to a new life in this Republic, with a harsh mountain life, harsh customs and traditions, the biased attitude towards women. But the love for their work and patriotism did not give them courage. Many former students still remember their teachers who taught them during the Soviet era.

A monument to Russian teacher in Makhachkala is a symbol of effort, work and sacrifice of Russian teachers, who will forever remain in the memory of his disciples.
