Triumphal gate was built in 1724 at the direction of Grand master Vilhena on the site of the old fortress gate with a drawbridge. The gates are decorated with carved reliefs depicting the three patron saints of Malta – St. Publius (the first Bishop of Malta), the Apostle Paul and of St. Agatha.
Previously passed near the moat dug by the Arabs in the IX century. Now here, orange trees, and part of the ditch is given to sports grounds.
