La Salle Hall Photo: La Salle Hall

The four-storey building La Salle Hall in neoclassical style was built in the years 1920-1924 in the Manila district of Malate. Then it housed the main building of the College De La Salle (now the namesake of the University), because in the old building did not have enough seats for students. Originally La Salle Hall had only three floors, the fourth was added in the 1990-ies to accommodate the Christian community, the Brothers De La Salle. Today, on the first floor of the building houses the College of Business, the second chapel of the Holy Sacrament and the office of the Alumni Association of the University De La Salle. In 2007, La Salle Hall became the only Filipino building, included in the book 1001 building you must see before you die: masterpieces of world architecture".

During the Second World war in the Battle for Manila, the building was almost destroyed, it was a shelter for the civilian population of the city. During the week the building was under artillery fire. Japanese troops occupying the building, turned it into his headquarters. 16 members of the order of Christian Brothers De La Salle and 25 civilians were killed by the invaders in the chapel in February 1945. The restoration of the building after the war took two years and cost about 5 thousand dollars. In December 1947, the chapel was consecrated by Archbishop O Doherty in honor of Holy Communion.
