The monument to the pioneer-hero Marat Kazei installed in the center of Minsk in the Park named after him in 1959. Authors are sculptor S. Selikhanov, architect Vladimir Volchek.

One of the young heroes of the great Patriotic War, a boy at the age of 12 with his mother and sister joined the partisans and became a glorified scout brigade headquarters of the K. K. Rokossovsky in Nazi-occupied native land.

His mother was killed by the Germans, sister received severe frostbite of the feet and the plane was sent to a hospital in Moscow. Marat was left alone. Seeking revenge on the enemies, he showed reckless bravery, which is not the adult males.

Killed Marat Kazei at the age of 14, having an unequal battle surrounded him with German soldiers. Shot all the cartridges, having spent ammunition, he stepped into the midst of enemies with a grenade in his hand and blasted them with me.

In 1965 Marat Kazei was posthumously awarded the highest military award of the USSR Hero of the Soviet Union.

The monument depicts the last battle of a hero. In one hand Marat still holds already useless machine, which is no longer empty, the other has already raised over his head, poised for the final toss in around him hated the Nazis.

In Soviet times, the monument was very well known. Beside him, joined the pioneers, conducted a solemn line, laid wreaths, flowers, read inspirational poems. Now it is less busy, but in the summer you can often see flowers at the feet of the young hero, so early leave a life, sacrificing them for the sake of their country.
