Mogilev "Stargazer" is not only the greatest and most original sundial, but also the world's only monument to the Astrologer.

In Mogilev wonderful place – area Stars. There are lit are the native and the brightest stars of the city. The names of honorary citizens decided to immortalize in the form of stars. Earlier this vital town square was decorated with the usual sundial in the form of an inclined pipe in the centre of the dial.

The city fathers deliberated for a long time, coming up with something original and unique, and decided to invite for the implementation of the project the author of the most kind and humane urban sculptures of Vladimir Zhbanov (sadly, now deceased). If you have ever been to Belarus, you probably saw him welcoming bronze characters: Stationmaster, the Lady with the dog, the Photographer, the Girl with an umbrella, a Queen on the bench, the Crew and other naive and funny, sad and joyful bronze Belarusian citizens.

The astrologer, pointing a finger at the sky, sitting in a high chair, ready to watch the starry sky through a telescope, which is the gnomon (the arrow pointer) hours of sunshine. At night turn on the built-in telescope headlight that is visible from space and is able to tell the aliens from distant planets the most beautiful square of a small and proud nation. Around Astrologer are 12 seats by the number of signs of the zodiac.

In Mahilyow already spread the legend of the Astrologer. One of them says that the casks allegedly consulted with some knowledgeable astrologers regarding the location of the sculpture in the square, and the Astrologer is a kind of secret of the stars, which allows one, but the most secret and cherished desire of the person, sat down in the chair of your zodiac sign. Another legend says that due to its location astrologer condenses the energy of space. If you touch his finger, it will bring good luck in all your endeavors and deeds.
