Maritime Museum "Traveler" or "Voyager", is the most outstanding Maritime Museum New Zealand. It is located in the heart of the city on the Bay of Freemans. The Museum contains information about all aspects of sailing in New Zealand, starting with the canoes of the Indians, Maori, ending with the legendary yacht Black Magic and Team New Zealand.

The Museum contains several exhibits that combined different subjects. "Theatre Te Waka" is a ten-minute animated film about the arrival of the first immigrants to land in New Zealand over a thousand years ago. At that time several small tropical Islands of Central Polynesia was home to Indians Maori. Te Waka is shown every 15 minutes throughout the day.

Exhibition "Everything closer to the coast" contains exhibits relating to the opening of New Zealand's early European explorers. These amazing travel Dutchmen, Frenchmen, Englishmen, Spaniards across the world are an important part of the Maritime history of New Zealand. The jewel of the exhibition is inside the restored 19th century - Rewa (Rewa), which was used for trading.

Meeting - "New beginnings" tells the story of emigrants 1850-60-ies. About how people left their homes, families, possessions and drove to the other end of the world for a new life. Feature of the exhibition is accurately reproduced the forecastle of the vessel on which emigrants traveled.

The category of "Black magic of the Open sea" is dedicated to sir Peter Blake's most famous new Zealand sailor, yachtsman, the winner of the popular worldwide sea of competition and environmental advocate. "A gallery of Marine Art" is a collection of paintings by the best new Zealand of marine painters. The gallery reflects the true spirit of Maritime power. The exhibition "new Zealanders and the coast" tells the story of how special and strong relationship with the people of New Zealand and the sea, how much sailing has influenced the culture and attitude of everyone in the country.

The Museum has its own small fleet of three sailing vessels, some of which are precise copies of ancient ships, and some are restored originals. All vessels on the go, and even have the opportunity to ride on them.

Every year the Museum holds an extraordinary festival, which lasts several days. During the festival, any visitor can not only admire the beautiful courts, but also to embark on each of them. Full program of the festival ends with a fireworks display.
