The Botanical gardens were founded in 1891, in Roseau, capital of Dominica. In these gardens contains more than 50 species of flowers, trees and shrubs. In thickets of plants, you can see a variety of birds, reptiles and butterflies. The gardens to this day divided into 2 parts – one can see the trees that are used for economic purposes, and the other parts are exotic and ornamental shrubs and plants. In the garden there is a reserve of parrots where you can see two rare species: Jacquot and Sisserou. The gardens has survived many hurricanes and tropical storms, the strongest of which is a hurricane David, which was 1979. Lots of trees and shrubs were uprooted, many flowers and plants were just destroyed. In the garden there is still a huge baobab tree, defeat the bus, as a reminder of this terrible hurricane. This is a wonderful place not only for walking but also for various games and activities. Here is Creole in the Park music festival within the festival in honor of independence. The Botanical gardens are considered one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean.
