Assumption pustynsky Monastery, or Male pustynsky monastery in honor of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary, located near the town of Mstislavl. Until recently you could only admire the ancient ruins, but now there is an active revival of the monastery with the assistance of the government of the Republic of Belarus and the Orthodox Church.

This ancient monastery was founded in 1380, his son Prince Olgerd, the founder of a kind of Prince Mstislav Lugonia. The legend says that Loguen was rapidly losing his sight. One night, in a dream, appeared to him the mother of God and said that he will find healing near the river oslyanka (a tributary of the Sozh). Washing up healing water, the Prince reiterated his sight. The first thing he happened to see God's miracle – the miraculous image of the Mother of God of the Desert. Further legend says that near the healing spring was the abode of the monks of the desert. To celebrate, Loguen built for the monks large beautiful monastery and Church.

In the sixteenth century came the problem – Mstislavl on the land was at war. The monks of the monastery Pustynsky were partly killed, and the rest hastily left his native abode. In 1605, not residential monastery was occupied by the monks resiliency, but they are unable to live long in the monastery. Only in the XIX century the monastery began to revive.

In 1864 he built the Church of the Nativity of the blessed virgin. It was built directly over the miraculous source of healing, in the place where the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of the Desert.

White bell tower is 60 meters high was built in 1866. There was also reconstructed the Church of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary and built numerous outbuildings and dwellings of the monks. There was a Church school and country school. Poor students and orphans, the monks taught at their own expense.

In 1919, during collectivization, the clever monks registered in the Pustinka commune that gave them some time to maintain the old way of life, but in 1925 the monastery is still closed and the monks dispersed. During the great Patriotic war, the monastery was blown up by German troops.

The revival of the monastery in our days began on 16 July 2003. Now it is a functioning monastery. Restored bell tower and the Church of the Nativity of the blessed virgin Mary, is the restoration of the other buildings. Restored also the font for Holy water. In the monastery pilgrims reached for the miraculous healing water.
