Mstislavl district historical and architectural Museum was established in 1988. Until 1995 continued the collection of Museum collections. In may 1995 was the Grand opening of the Museum in the former post house – a monument of architecture of XIX century. Now in three halls of the Museum presents more than 12 thousand exhibits.
The first hall displays a collection of "Spiritual sources of Mstislav of the earth", dedicated to the life and work of a pioneer of Peter together – the assistant of the famous printing pioneer Ivan Fedorov. In 1564 in Moscow, they produced the first printed book the Apostle a prayer-book. In the early 1570s, Peter Together, broke up by the time Ivan Fedorov, founded in Vilna, with the support of rich citizens and Orthodox merchants own printing press and produced the books of the gospel, the Psalter, the book of Hours.
The second hall of the Museum Of the history of the Mstislavl region: from antiquity to the late eighteenth century" showcases archaeological finds discovered during excavations of the Mstislav citadels. Before us the true story of the medieval city: the customs, culture, crafts. Here you can see everyday utensils, ornaments, armor of medieval knights.
The third room is the "County town Mstislavl" shows us a cozy County Belarusian city with his life, shops, workshops, customs and traditions. It also presents a collection of "Religious denomination", which tells about the difficult history of the development of religious beliefs and movements, the opposition and the peaceful existence of believers of different faiths.
The Museum also hosts numerous interesting exhibitions on the history of chivalry and medieval culture. The Museum acts as the initiators of the annual jousting festivals reenactment clubs.
