In the late 60-ies of the 17th century the building of the Narva town hall was the most imposing public building in the city. The Swedish king Karl XI ordered the city authorities about the construction of the town hall. The basis was taken as the architect of Lubeck Georg Taffel. Construction began in 1868 and lasted for three years. And, in 1871, the town hall was ready.
