The Museum was created on the initiative of Russian scientific community. In the creation of the Museum was attended by E. P. Peshkova - wife of A. M. Gorky, N. And.Peshkov was the wife of M. Peshkov, M. M. and D. M. Peshkova - granddaughter of the writer, I. Chaliapin-Baksheev - daughter of F. I. Shalyapin. A unique exhibition, based on original material, talks about the past (1902 - 1904) Nizhny Novgorod, M. Gorky, who became a writer for the heyday of his literary and social activities. Over the years of living in this house for more than 50 of the writer's works translated into 16 languages. Here is done the play "the lower depths" written "Vacationers", the poem "Man", started work on the novel "Mother". The exposition allows to feel the atmosphere of the society of the early twentieth century.
