The most beautiful building of the Nizhny Novgorod fair in the style of ancient architecture adorns the historical part of Nizhny Novgorod since 1890. The main house is the largest fairs of Russia of the 19th century is partially preserved in the architectural exhibition complex.

Makaryev fair (located near the monastery of St. Macarius), founded by Grand Prince Vasily Ivanovich in 1524, because of the fire that destroyed all fair buildings, in 1816, transferred to Nizhny Novgorod. In the late 1880s the main fair building becomes obsolete and the decision on the construction of a new, multifunction Main fair house. In 1890 by the architect A. I. von Gogen, K. M. and Treiman A. E. Trombicula building was erected and the administrative centre, where on the second floor was occupied by the fair office, Executive office, office of the state Bank, apartment of the Governor, and the first was a spacious passage. The new building was erected on the site of three "Betancourt" buildings and is considered the final stage of development of architecture of the fair complex.

Main fair building, one of the largest passages of Russia, after the revolution became the location of numerous military units of the red Army, and after 1922 in the spacious halls of the permanently settled "Children's world". In our days, the historic building is the largest exhibition complex, where there are six exhibition halls, five conference rooms, as well as Armorial hall, the host of distinguished guests, shopping arcade and much more.
