Long ago in a village called Arabizi there is a Church built of wood. By the 19th century, it is extremely dilapidated. In 1803 in Petersburg tract drove the Emperor Alexander I and saw the dilapidated Church, has enjoined on their own funds to build a new Church of stone in the name of Saint blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. The erection of a new Church of stone was completed in 1805.
Twenty years later, the congregation was made the first repair, shingle roof of the Church was replaced by the iron. Later in 1836 the Western part of the temple was expanded, there was arranged a warm Church. In connection with this action was dismantled and built again the bell tower, which was the temple a whole and noted its main entrance. Tall bell tower with a spire reaching almost 38 meters, its length was equal to 26 meters width – 13 meters. In the Church there were two chapels: the chapel of the North - in the name of the Holy great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki, the chapel of the South in the name of Saint Nicholas of Myra. In the 80-ies of the 19th century by the parishioners made the renovation of the Church, and to the North aisle ordered a new iconostasis.
In addition to the village of Arabizi in the parish Church consists of such village, city, Pestovo, Mironescu, Zagorje, Sosnytsya, Izhitsa, Boilers, Cuisine, Kuznetsovka, Pochep, Goreski, Great Yard, Kiselyovka and others.
The funds necessary to maintain the beauty of the temple came from residents of neighbouring villages and villages and from donors from other places. The villagers of Arabizi brothers Fyodor Zaytsev and Michael – were donated to the Church the shroud, banners, carpet and a portable lantern. Peasant woman living in D. Kuznetsovka, gave as a gift to the temple fifteen Arshinov brocade. In 1894 St. righteous John of Kronstadt were donated to the Alexander Nevsky Church diaconal and priestly vestments, analogies, integument on the throne. Also received gifts from father Nicholas Kondratova - priest St. Petersburg St. Nicholas Cathedral. Gave the gifts and the staff of the St. Petersburg Kalininskiy hospital, were also of sacrifice and many others.
In 1918, in December, all the property of the Church was transferred to the safety of the parish, among whom was selected about forty commissioners. From the chronicle of the temple it is known that in the 20-30 years of the twentieth century the congregation had diligently fulfilled Christian duty, and necessity in the Church was not reduced.
Following a major renovation in the Church was held in 1929, the Church was re-painted by the native village of Ivanovo in the province of Tver – Shinshinim Vasily Kuzmich. The repair was carried out at the time of the hostile attitude to the Church by the Soviet state. Also in 1928 in Libicki district turned out to be a bad year, the famine began.
The last renovation of the temple happened in 1934, was repaired roof, produced a whitewash in the winter Church and the bell tower. In 1937 the Church was closed and demolished, discarded and broken bells. Some of the witnesses this devastation even wrote a poem, which is still preserved in folk memory.
After its closure in 1937, the building was identified under the rural House of culture. There is often held rallies, gathered citizens. With the beginning of the war Agabiti was a frontier village, and the Church, or rather in her basement was arranged firing point. Still to the side of the road watching the loopholes.
On the initiative of the population of the village of Arabizi, since 1998, the Church began work on analysis of the ruins, the development of project documentation and to raise funds for the restoration of the Church in honor of St. Alexander Nevsky. The Church is currently active.
