The Holy Trinity Church in Novorossiysk – the Orthodox Church related to the ROC MP, currently has a status of active. Commonly is the name of the Trinity all who sorrow Cathedral, Trinity Church, Holy Trinity Church.

The history of the construction and operation of the Church is rather complicated. The first wooden Church building was constructed in 1893 and consecrated in honor of the Mother of God "Joy of All who sorrow". Then when the Church was opened two Church schools in which classes were held separately for students.

After expanding the boundaries of Novorossiysk by inclusion in the city limits of new areas (Metodieva, cement plant, Standard) in 1900, a small Church could no longer accommodate all the faithful. Started raising funds to build a new stone Church, and from the Royal Treasury added 1000. Thus, in December 1906, was solemnly dedicated the new Church. It was built from the local light gray limestone, which from a distance, and especially from the sea, seemed white. Almost 30 meters above the dome towered belfry cross, perfectly visible from all parts of the city and sea, becoming a reliable navigation mark for sailors.

Built the temple had Trinity (main) the throne and sorrow chapel, hence the name of the Trinity Sorrow Church. Many documents of the parish was called the Cathedral, then the service in it were several priests. The Cathedral was visited by the workers of the sea port, refineries and cement plants, the customs officials and the railway.

In February 1938 the services in the Cathedral were stopped by the authorities, and in March of the Church confiscated religious items. In 1942, the Novorossiysk was occupied by fascist troops and service in the Church was renewed. However, after some time the Germans realized that the meeting of local people in the Church use the underground for campaigning, and residents prayed for the victory of Russian troops over the invaders and after Easter 1942 they issued a decree banning religious meetings under the pretext of protecting the population from artillery fire.

After the liberation of Novorossiysk since the beginning of 1945 the Church building served as a warehouse of military unit, In 1947, the community has requested the restoration of the temple, but referring to the dilapidated condition of the structure, the city Council in 1951 decided to dismantle the Church. Thus, by the decision of the regional Executive Committee in 1957 the Trinity Sorrow Church blew up. On the Foundation of the Church in 1963 built the first in Novorossiysk cinema "Russia".

And only from 1996 year, according to numerous requests of believers, the cinema building was allowed to be used for Church services. And in 1997 in the cinema the first worship service was held and the altar consecrated in honor of the Trinity. Since the beginning of 2008 the building and the surrounding area belongs to the parish of Holy Trinity Church.
