The Museum of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk is located in the beautiful forested area of the Botanical garden in Akademgorodok on the streets of Russia. The exposition, dedicated to the first President of USSR Academy of Sciences - academician M. Lavrentyev, is housed in three spacious halls. The first room is devoted to the so-called "Demanovska" period in the biography of academician: his formation as a scientist and public figure. The second room shows the creation of the Siberian branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences and scientific center of Novosibirsk: the construction and opening of institutions, international relations, the formation of new research centers in the Urals, training for science. In the third room of the Museum there are exhibits that tell visitors about the merits of academician M. Lavrentiev not only at home but also abroad.
The main social function of the Museum is to document the development of science and technology.
The Museum collection consists of more than 1 thousand units of storage, here are logged by the instrumental account, the nodes of the first generation of Soviet computing machines, samples of scientific instruments, the original design of RAS, a unique collection of consumer and professional photographic equipment, radio equipment, a legendary car GAZ-69, belonged to academician M. A. Lavrentyev.
