Watchtower Moro is one of the main historical sights of the town Gimbal in the province of Iloilo on Panay island. Once along the shoreline stood five fortified towers, designed to warn local residents about the approaching warlike Moro pirates. Today, however, it is possible to examine only three of them – they have been carefully renovated and restored to its original form under the leadership of the Department of Tourism. On the restoration of the two remaining until enough money.

Built these towers were in the 17th century. Then on these shores often attacked by pirates from the tribe "Moro" who destroyed the village and stole the local population into slavery, and then sold on the island of Mindanao. It was then that the residents of Gimbal and decided to somehow resist the raids – so along the beautiful South coast in different places were established watchtowers. Today even you can see the old drums, which were beaten up by guards when he noticed the approaching enemies. And the towers have become a symbol of courage and heroism of the inhabitants of Gimbal.
