On the waterfront of the city of Penza towering 25-meter stele with the inscription "Glory to the heroes". Glory monument was inaugurated on 6 November 1967 in the Central part of the city, over the river Sura. The authors of the project were: the famous painter A. A. OYA, sculptor A. A. Fomin and architect L. F. Iofan. The monument depicts a stylized Rostock, pushing up to the light, for which he received the popular name "sprout". Vertical obelisk stainless metal symbolizes growth and prosperity of the Penza region and Russia in General.
Near the monument of Glory is horizontal from the Karelian granite stele with a message for posterity. In 1967, representatives of three generations of the Penza walled capsule in the Northern end of the memorial stele with an appeal to future residents of the city, the Grand opening of which should occur in 2017.
In 2011, the memorial complex was supplemented with lists of people that are proud of the Penza region: the Cavaliers of the Order of Glory and the St George cross, the heroes of Russia and the Soviet Union, faithfully served the Fatherland.
The memorial of Glory "sprout" is located in the same square on the seafront, offering beautiful views of the Sur, the part of the city's bridges. The memorial serves as an integral part of celebrations and memorable place for all residents of Penza. On the observation deck of the memorial complex during fireworks offers the most colorful and scenic views in the city.
